Double Wedding Ring (1930-1950s)

Wedding Ring Variation:

The wedding ring is one of the most popular patterns of the 1930's. However, this variation is particularly unique. It is made of cotton pieced vibrant raspberry solids and mixed prints on cream with pinwheel centers. A scalloped edge with apple green binding finishes this quilt. The quilting is excellent with 8-9 stitches per inch. Made c.1930 in Canton, Ohio, it measures 76" x 93" and is in unwashed, unused condition.

Pastel-colored Floral Applique Quilts (1920s-1930s)

Pastel Floral Appliqué

When you find a quilt like this it is easy to see why collectors love 1930s appliqués. This great quilt has appliquéd flowers in pastel pink, blue and purple. It has a thin batting, a narrow white cotton binding, a pastel pink and green scalloped border, and a solid white backing. It is hand quilted and appliquéd with 6-7 stitches per inch. This beautiful quilt is Signed P.R.F. Smith, 1938. It was found in Southern Wisconsin. I have never seen a kit quilt in this design so I believe it to be a truly beautiful and creative original design. This wonderful example of Depression era quilting is in excellent condition, with a very few minor tears in the binding and measures 86" x 76". 0520900DVN
